A Personal Approach

Massage Therapy & Soft Tissue Recovery

Whether you are recovering from an injury, managing a heavy training load, or simply need to decompress, targeted massage is a vital tool for long-term physical health.

My approach to massage therapy goes beyond simple relaxation. I utilize a combination of Deep Tissue and Trigger Point techniques to manipulate muscles, tendons, and fascia—specifically designed to reduce pain, accelerate healing, and restore fluid movement.

Why Choose This Approach?

Unlike a standard spa treatment, my soft tissue work is clinically focused. I adapt my pressure and technique to your specific injury and pain threshold, ensuring the session is both effective and manageable.

  • Targeted Recovery: Ideal for sports performance, surfing longevity, and gym-related tightness.

  • Pain Management: Proven relief for chronic tension, headaches, and postural strain.

  • Functional Healing: We don't just "rub the sore spot"—we aim to improve how your body actually moves.

Techniques Offered:

  • Deep Tissue: For reaching the underlying layers of muscle and connective tissue.

  • Trigger Point Therapy: Focused pressure on specific "knots" to release referred pain.

  • Sports Massage: Tailored to keep you active and performing at your peak on the Coast.

Trigger Point Therapy

Have you ever felt a "knot" in your muscle that seems to ache even when you aren't moving? These are Trigger Points—small, hyper-irritable spots in your muscle fibers that can cause localized pain or "refer" discomfort to entirely different parts of your body.

Breaking the "Snowball Effect"

When a muscle develops a trigger point, it becomes weaker and less flexible. To compensate, your surrounding muscles work harder to carry the load. This creates a "snowball effect" of tension, leading to secondary pain and restricted movement.

How It Works

I use targeted, direct pressure to release these points of tension. By deactivated the "knot," we can:

  • Relieve Referred Pain: Stop the ache that travels from your neck into your head, or your hip into your leg.

  • Restore Mobility: Help your muscles return to their full length and strength.

  • Interrupt the Pain Cycle: Prevent compensatory injuries before they start.

Who is it for?

Trigger Point Therapy is effective for almost everyone—from athletes managing overuse to professionals dealing with postural strain. If you feel like your muscles are "tight" no matter how much you stretch, this targeted approach is often the missing piece of the puzzle.

Trigger Point Dry Needling

Dry needling is a highly effective clinical technique used to "reset" dysfunctional muscles. Unlike traditional acupuncture, which focuses on energy flow, dry needling is a purely anatomical treatment aimed directly at the trigger points—the tender, inflamed "knots" within your muscle tissue that restrict movement and cause pain.

Precision Recovery

Using single-use, hair-thin sterile needles, I can reach deep-seated tension that manual massage alone sometimes cannot access. This process creates a local twitch response, which helps to:

  • Restore Strength & Length: Release the constant "contraction" in the muscle fibers.

  • Improve Function: Research shows strong evidence that dry needling can quickly return a muscle to its normal operating state.

  • Reduce Inflammation: By stimulating a healing response exactly where the tissue is most irritated.

Superficial vs. Deep Tissue

Depending on your injury and sensitivity, I utilize both superficial and deep tissue needling techniques. Whether it’s a chronic lower back issue or an acute sports strain, the treatment is tailored to your specific pain threshold and recovery goals.

Is it right for you?

If you have persistent "tightness" that won't go away with stretching, or if you are looking for a fast-acting way to improve your range of motion, Dry Needling is often the missing link in your rehabilitation.

Physio-Led Exercise & Clinical Pilates

Move better, stay stronger, and recover faster in a space designed for results. My exercise studio is a dedicated clinical environment, fully equipped with Reformer beds, Trapeze tables, and professional strength equipment (dumbbells, Swiss balls, and more).

Whether you are looking for 1-on-1 sessions or small group classes, I provide a goal-oriented framework that bridges the gap between acute injury and peak physical performance.

The Evidence-Based Difference

This isn't just a workout—it’s a clinical program. Every session is informed by my background as a Physiotherapist and Exercise Scientist, integrating:

  • Clinical Pilates: Targeted core stability and postural alignment.

  • Strength & Conditioning: Building resilient muscles and joints for the long term.

  • Surgical Rehabilitation: Expert guidance for post-op recovery.

  • Healthy Ageing: Improving balance, bone density, and mobility.

Why Train with a Physio?

Unlike a standard gym or Pilates studio, every movement is screened and adjusted to your specific pathology. We don't just "do exercises"—we implement a strategy to restore your function and prevent future injury.

Private Health & Rebates

Because these sessions are clinical and lead by a Physiotherapist, they are typically claimable under your Private Health Insurance (Physiotherapy extras).
